October: Filipino-American History Month
An "Essay Writing Contest" is in progress and will continue until November 14 in celebration of the Filipino American History Month. The contest is open to Grades 9-12. For details call 415-584-1165. One Day! One Book! For children throughout San Francisco!Jumpstart’s READ FOR THE RECORD is a national campaign that was launched in order to raise awareness about the importance of early literacy readiness by creating the largest shared reading experience in history! Come to a library READ FOR THE RECORD event to listen to a reading of Corduroy by Don Freeman, perhaps join in an activity, and collect stickers, bookmarks, and a participation certificate. Ingleside Branch participation for the Read for the Record will be held in San Miguel Child Development Center at 300 Seneca Ave., San Francisco with Brian Harrigan's 23 pupils, ages three to four years old.
Climate Change
This slideshow will be held on Oct. 8. Climate change is any long-term significant change in the “average weather” that a given region experiences. Average weather may include average temperature, precipitation and wind patterns. It involves changes in the variability or average state of the atmosphere over durations ranging from decades to millions of years. These changes can be caused by dynamic processes on Earth, external forces including variations in sunlight intensity, and more recently by human activities.
